Karakoram Highway blocked due to heavy rain, landsliding

Karakoram Highway has been blocked suspending all kinds of traffic due to landsliding triggered by heavy rainfall in the region, reported 24NewsHDTV channel on Saturday.
Police sources said that heavy rain continued in Diamir and Upper Kohistan areas since late Friday night.
Due to landsliding at six locations, traffic on Karakoram Highway was suspended.
Many trucks loaded with cargo and passenger vans were already struck at different locations on the highway.
Police sources further informed that as the rain continued so they were facing difficulties to clear the Karakoram Highway for restoring the traffic.
Sources said that they were still unaware about whether traffic on Chilas to Gilgit section was suspended or not.
