‘No financial loss’ to PCB for hosting ICC Champions Trophy

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly denied allegations that hosting of ICC Champions Trophy caused any financial loss to the board, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday, quoting sources.
The sources in the PCB stated that the ICC fully bore all the expenditure occurred for hosting ICC Champions Trophy matches.
The ICC allocated budget of $70 million for hosting Champions Trophy tournament.
Sources further revealed that PCB was paid an amount of $6 million as hosting fee from the ICC as this amount is already paid to nation who hosted this event.
The hosting country not allowed to pay the amount. Sources said that work on still in progress to determine exact income generated through gate money.
Work to determine net amount collected via holding ICC Champions Trophy matches in Dubai is still underway.
Pakistan Cricket Board spent amount on upgradation of cricket stadiums of Lahore and Karachi, while prior to holding any major event upgradation of stadium is mandatory for hosting country.
It is necessary to mention here that Pakistan upgraded its stadiums after a lapse of 29 years.
PCB obtained approval for this budget from this governing board.
