CEC notice of state machinery, copter use in KP LG polls

The chief election commissioner has taken notice of the use of state machinery and helicopter during local bodies' elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the chief election commissioner was chairing a meeting that was attended by the KP chief secretary.
The commissioner also took notice of repeated violations of the code of conduct by the chief minister and the ministers of KP.
The chief secretary and advocate general should go and tell their government that violation will not be tolerated, the CEC stressed, adding that the commission will ensure equal opportunities for all candidates in the by-elections.
In case of violation, indiscriminate action will be taken against all parties, and candidates, he maintained and directed the chief secretary should convey the message to the provincial government.
If the provincial government is not ready to support the election, the by-election will have to be postponed, he said.
The commission has decided to formally hear the matter and notices be issued to the parties.
