Pakistan squad for the ICC World Cup 2023 scheduled to be held in India next month has not been finalized, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

According to sources, the consultation process of the Pakistan cricket team chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq continues for the formation of the team for the Cricket World Cup 2023.

The unit will be finalized after consultation with the captain, head coach, and selection committee.

 The names of 18 to 20 players are being considered for the event.

However, the captain and the selection committee have agreed not to make many changes to the Asia Cup squad, the sources said, adding that

mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed and pacer Zaman Khan are likely to be added to the 15-member squad given the conditions in India.

After captain Babar Azam, chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq will also consult team director Mickey Arthur and coach Grant Bradburn.

The selection committee has also considered the availability of injured players before finalizing the squad.

After the consultation process is completed, the Chief Selector will meet the Pakistan Cricket Board Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf. The final decision on the team will be made with the approval of Ashraf. The squad is expected to be announced next week on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Sarfaraz Ahmed Kanam, who scored a brilliant century in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, is also under consideration for the reserve wicket-keeper.

It has been agreed to hold a short training camp for the national team next week to prepare for the mega event.

The training camp for the World Cup will be held in Lahore.
