Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said the country’s best thalassemia & other genetic disorder prevention and research institute established at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, is providing the best facilities for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of genetics and hereditary blood diseases.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, she was speaking at the concluding session of the Annual Scientific Symposium of Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) here at Fatima Jinnah Medical University on Wednesday. 

The event was organized by FJMU, Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America (FJMCAANA), and King Edward Medical College Alumni Association (KEMCAA-UK) under the patronage of FJMU Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal.

A dinner was organized in the closing ceremony, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, who is also a graduate of Fatima Jinnah Medical College, graced the occasion with her presence as chief guest.

Secretary Health Punjab Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, Federal Secretary Dr. Ijaz Munir, President Fatima Jinnah Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Fizza Zahid Rafique, President King Edward Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Muhammad Fateh Shahzad, President Allama Iqbal Medical College Alumni Association of North America Dr. Nusrum Iqbal, Program Director King Edward Medical College Alumni Association UK Dr. Tabinda Dugal, Former Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof. Aamer Zaman Khan, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof. Mehmood Ayaz, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof. Nadeem Hafeez Butt, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute Prof. Sardar Farid Al-Zafar, Former Principals and Professors of Medical Institutions participated in the event as Special Guests.

Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Dr Khalid Masood Gondal, Dr Shamsa Humayun, Dr Muhammad Nadeem, Dr Noreen Akmal, Dr Muniza Qayyum, Dr Munazza Iqbal, Dr Abdul Hameed, Dr Zohra Khanum, Dr Naveed Akbar Hotiana, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir and Faculty Members were also present.

Dr Yasmin Rashid congratulated VC Dr Khalid Masood Gondal and the organizers of the Annual International Scientific Symposium for its successful conduction. She also mentioned that state of the art Fatima Jinnah Institute of Mother & Child Health is now functional. A high level treatment is available to mother and child which will certainly decrease the maternal and child death rate in the Province.
