Proclaimed offender killed in encounter with Lahore police

A notorious proclaimed offender and the mastermind of inter-provincial gang of criminals Hidayat alias Liaquad Oadh who was wanted by police in various cases of murder, house robbery, dacoity and other serious crimes was killed in police encounter in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to details, a police team of Crime Control Department (CCD) Kotwali was taking the proclaimed offender who was on physical remand for recovery of weapons and to apprehend his other colleagues to Badami Bagh when suddenly some unknown accused started indiscriminate firing on the police team in a bid to free the notorious accused from police custody.
Accused Hidyat alias Liaquat Oadh received serious bullet wounds and was being shifted to hospital but died on way to the hospital.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) CCD-II Khalid Ranjha said that the accused Hidyat alias Liaquat Oadh was involved in different criminal activities such as murder, robbery, dacoity, and other serious crimes.
Few days ago he committed a robbery at a petrol pump along with his colleague and fled away successfully.
The DSP said that the accused was involved in demanding ransom after making hostage of family members and harassed them to kill or rape.
All the police team members remained unhurt mysteriously during the encounter but the van was damaged severely.
Later all the companions of accused escaped from the scene leaving behind a Toyota Corolla vehicle.
CCD DSP Danish Ranjha said that police already started a search operation to arrest the culprits.
Further investigation was underway.
