Govt bars dual pension and salary for re-employed pensioners over 60

The federal government has imposed a ban on drawing both pension and salary simultaneously for individuals re-employed in government service after the age of 60.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, pensioners who return to government employment following retirement will now be required to choose between receiving their pension or their salary — they will not be entitled to both.

The ministry emphasised that this measure has been taken to ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility in public sector employment practices.

The decision is expected to impact a significant number of retired officials who often re-enter the system in advisory or contractual roles while continuing to draw pension benefits.
