Nikahnama case: Meera approaches LHC to seek reinstatement of rejected petition

In a controversy over actress Meera's alleged marriage to Atiqur Rehman, the actress has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) again seeking reinstatement of the petition which was rejected on the ground of non-compliance, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The miscellaneous petition filed by actress Meera stated that on June 22, actress Meera's application was rejected for non-compliance.
According to the petition, the petitioner and her attorney were unable to appear for some reasons.
The case was fixed in a court of Justice Risal Hassan Syed on the last hearing.
In June 18, a message was sent through the High Court's IT portal to reschedule the case.
It was requested from the court to order the reinstatement of application rejected for non-compliance.
Advocate Qaiser Amin Rana has submitted the nikahnama on behalf of Atiqur Rehman.
In the petition filed with the Lahore High Court by applicant actress Meera, it has stated that the film is being shot in Dubai, adding that Atiq-ur-Rehman had made the fake marriage certificate and photos,
The petition said that Atiq-ur-Rehman falsified marriage certificate to obtain publicity and blackmail, adding the actress was not given a fair opportunity to present her testimony in the trial court.
The petition said that trial court did not certify the marriage certificate submitted by Atiq-ur-Rehman in accordance with the law, adding the original marriage certificate against the actress was also not filed in the trial court, adding that in a civil case, it is up to the plaintiff to prove the truth of the evidence presented.
The petition further said the trial court placed the entire burden on the actress over declaring the marriage certificate false.
The petition stated Atiqur Rehman did not present any certified document in relation to the marriage certificate in the trial court, adding the nikah registrar has also stated that there were no documents to prove Atiqur Rehman's marriage certificate.
The petition stated the family court has focused on the marriage photos for veracity of the marriage certificate, adding countless photos are available online of actress Meera that can be misused. The petition stated the court did not present any negatives or digitals of the photos.
The petition stated Atiqur Rehman has submitted edited photos to court for blackmail, adding the family court dismissed marriage suit based on photographs of presumed marriage.
The petition said that actress Meera was unable to present her parents as witnesses in court due to the receiving of threat.
The petition of the actress Meera has asked the High Court to annul the injunction of degree and session of the family court against the denial of marriage and to declare Atiq-ur-Rehman's marriage certificate false.
It is pertinent to note that on May 28, 2018, the family court rejected the charge of declaring Atiqur Rehman's marriage certificate false. On January 31, the Court of Sessions confirmed the decision of the family court and dismissed the appeal.
