In a significant development in the Balaj Tipu murder case, the prime suspect, Ahsan Shah, was killed in an alleged police encounter, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to the DSP Organised Crime Unit, Ahsan Shah was being escorted by CIA staff on Friday night for the recovery of evidence related to the case when his accomplices allegedly attacked the police party near Shad Bagh, Lahore.

During the exchange of fire, Shah was seriously injured by their firing, after which they fled under the cover of darkness.

After the firing stopped, Ahsan was shifted in serious condition to Mayo Hospital but succumbed to his wounds.

His body was shifted to the morgue and a case was registered against his fleeing accomplices.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and details of the encounter are still under investigation.

The death of Ahsan Shah, who was the main accused in the high-profile Balaj Tipu murder case, raises questions about the conduct of the police during his custody.

Authorities have yet to provide a comprehensive account of the events leading up to the fatal shooting.

The CIA Lahore arrested Ahsan Shah in March 2024 in connection with the murder of Ameer Balaj, son of the late underworld figure Tipu Truckanwala.

Shah, identified as a close friend of Balaj, allegedly provided information about Balaj’s whereabouts to the rival group.

Earlier,  Ameer Balaj Tipu, son of Arif Ameer alias Tipu Truckanwala (goods transport network), was gunned down in what police described as a targeted attack near Lahore’s Thokar Niaz Beg neighborhood.

The incident occurred during a wedding ceremony in a residential society near Thokar Niaz Beg as an armed assailant opened fire on Balaj Tipu, who recently joined PML-N, killing him on the spot.
