Asad Khokhar, Jahangir Tareen test positive for coronavirus

The coronavirus pandemic continues to spread its tentacles in the country, including in Punjab, as Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Malik Asad Khokhar has too tested positive for the virus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Earlier in the morning, 24News had reported that the ‘estranged’ leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Jahangir Khan Tareen and his wife had been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
The pandemic is spreading rapidly in Pakistan as is evident by the fact that the ratio of positive cases in the country now stands at 13 per cent.
As many as 7, 200 cases of the virus were reported from across the country in just one day, while eight people died from the virus.
In Karachi, the ratio of positive cases is 37 per cent; it is 33 per cent in Peshawar; 19 per cent in Chitral; 18 per cent in Hyderabad, and 17 per cent in Lahore.
91 more cases of Omicron variant of the coronavirus were reported from Lahore during the past 24 hours, thus taking the total number of patients in the city to 912.
Similarly, seven judges of the provincial capital’s sessions and civil courts are presently infected with the Covid-19.
