The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has started publishing the scheduled meter reading dates on electricity bills.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, this move comes as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) launched an inquiry into the company's failure to include these dates previously.
The inclusion of the meter reading date will enable consumers to estimate the units they use accurately. This can be verified by comparing the specified date with the date and time recorded on the meter photograph.
Last month, additional units were charged to consumers through the pro-rata system, prompting an investigation by NAB and FIA.
The investigative teams highlighted the absence of the reading dates on the bills, and LESCO could not provide a satisfactory explanation for this omission.
