Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to step down as his government has failed to control skyrocketing dearness in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
He said the prime minister should accept the responsibility and tender his resignation. He asked the premier, since the dearness has reached its pinnacle, should we be a little bit scared now?
He said 100% increase in medicine prices is tantamount to deprive a man of his right to live. He said it’s not a political point scoring to become a voice of a man who could return empty-handed from the drug store because the poor chap does not have enough money to buy medicine.
He said the Prime Minister who sits in a chilled room of PM House, cannot realize the pain of a poor fellow who cannot afford school fee of his children. He challenged the premier to make monthly budget of a common man who lives in a rented house.
The PPP chairman said since the installation of his government, a household never found it easy to get new clothes on Eid days. He said the premier made a mockery of the corruption campaign and forced people to stand in long queues for getting sugar.
He mocked where leaders all over the world think about the welfare of their people, PM Imran thinks about ways how to get aid.
The PPP chairman said if PM thinks three years are not enough to bring about a change, then it’s a million-dollar question what has he done in KP in eight years except providing expensive medical treatment at province’s government hospitals.
Dearness will not be ended from the country by establishing free meal places, the PPP chairman said challenging the premier to take some real steps to end it. He said government is snatching morsel of bread from the mouth of a poor man by rising flour prices.
Bilawal said prime minister is levying heavy taxes on people at the behest of IMF and people would never forgive him.
He said when a ruler himself is a thief, then the rudderless corrupt mafia in a bid to gather more profit makes everything expensive.
He said Imran’s concept of change revolves round the idea to give tax exemption to cronies and put burden of high prices on poor people.
On Saturday, the PPP chairman expressed concern over the worsening situation of coronavirus in the country and criticized government for not enforcing lockdown in the country to control the pandemic.
The PPP chairman said, had the government enforced a timely lockdown in the country, covid 19 situation would not have become aggravated. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan must acknowledge the fact that without controlling coronavirus situation, the country cannot make any economic progress.
He sympathized with the people who lost their near and dear ones to coronavirus battle. He said PPP was standing with healthcare workers at this critical moment who are on the frontline in the fight against this epidemic.
He castigated government for its lax covid measures that resulted in the rampant virus spread in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said if government had resorted to prompt lockdown, we would not have confronted this situation.
The PPP chairman said widespread roll out of corona vaccine in the country is the only answer to avoid any further loss and impending lockdown. He said government should realize that pace of economic activities cannot be enhanced unless the government takes stringent measures to control coronavirus.
