The Embassy of Poland in Islamabad on Monday gathered the European ambassadors under one roof to express solidarity with Ukraine titled “Three Years of Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom”.
The event was specially organized by the Polish Ambassador Maciej Pisarski and was attended by the British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, EU Deputy Head of Delegation Philipp Oliver Gross, French Ambassador Nicolas Galey, German Ambassador Alfred Grannas, Czech Republic’s ambassador Ladislav Steinhübel and Finnish Ambassador Hannu Ripatti along with various other EU countries envoys and officials.
The event kickstarted with a beautiful documentary video depicting the Ukraine War and its impacts on culture titled “Culture Vs War.”
While addressing the event the Polish Ambassador Maciej Pisarski noted that the Russian aggression against Ukraine has entered into its 3rd year forcing the world to feel its heat, as along with various other impacts it has triggered food and fuel shortages across the globe.
“Ukraine is defending itself against this aggression and is striving to restore its territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders, which we fully support, Added Maciej Pisarski.
The ambassador was of the view that Ukrainian sovereignty and the will of its people cannot be compromised in the negotiations.
“We will not recognize occupied Ukrainian territory as a part of Russia,” The ambassador elaborated.
While addressing the participants Ukrainian Ambassador Markian Chuchuk mentioned that these three years have brought immense hardship to Ukraine adding “countless lives have been lost or shattered i.e soldiers, civilians, women, and children alike. Families have been separated, communities destroyed, and approximately 15 million Ukrainians have been displaced as refugees or IDPs.”
Estimates suggest over one million military personnel from both sides of the frontline have been killed or wounded, though precise figures remain uncertain, Markian Chuchuk added.
The Ukrainian Ambassador alleged that Russia has flooded the world with propaganda and disinformation using modern technologies and sophisticated tools.
