Asserting that the people of Punjab had not responded to the PTI’s call for a protest in Islamabad and rejected the politics of confrontation, Information Minister Azma Bukhari on Monday claimed that only 80 party workers from the province, including Lahore, had left for the federal capital to participate in the planned sit-in, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, she said the purpose of the protest was to get an ‘NRO’ (clean chit) for the PTI leaders in different cases.
“The day is still to dawn for the PTI today as the marchers are still sleeping. Nobody knows where former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan is.”
The minister added that Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi, who was a housewife, is now leading the march of rioters. Everybody has now seen her leading the protestors,” she said.
Ridiculing the former first lady for allegedly doing magic, she said that no one could see the genies accompanying these protestors.
Azma further said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was leading groups of armed people to ‘attack the federation’.
Yesterday, the minister went on to say, an interchange on a motorway near Mianwali was set on fire. “And vehicles were set on fire near Attock too. The protestors even beat up the policemen.”
She alleged that the KP government officials were also among the armed PTI protestors.
“A delegation from Belarus, comprising 68 ministers and senior government officials, has reached Islamabad,” Azma said.
She informed that all roads, schools and markets in the province were open.
