CM Naqvi okays construction of another cardiac hospital in Lahore

Taking notice of the issues confronting patients and their attendants at Lahore’s Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) due to overcrowding, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday approved the construction of yet another large hospital for heart patients in the city, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Now Jinnah Institute of Cardiology will be built on the site reserved for the construction of Jinnah Hospital’s Emergency and Trauma Center adjacent to the Jinnah Hospital.
As per instructions the CM gave during his visit to the project site, the center will now be housed in the Jinnah Hospital.
The chief minister ordered laying down foundation of the cardiology institute by the mid of next month.
He was briefed by the secretary construction and communications on the occasion that the institute, which would be the second largest hospital for the heart patients in the provincial capital after the PIC, would be a seven-storey building and there would be 250 beds in it.
Provincial ministers Dr. Javed Akram, Amir Mir, secretaries health, special secretary health, Allama Iqbal Medical Hospital principal, MS Jinnah Hospital and other officials were also present on the occasion.
