PPP’s Syed Murad Ali Shah and PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz are favourites for the seat of chief minister in Sindh and Punjab, respectively as the assemblies of both provinces will elect leaders of the House tomorrow, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


PPP on Sunday formally announced Syed Murad Ali Shah as its candidate for the position, for the third consecutive time, while Ali Khursheedi will be the MQM-P’s candidate.  


His name was approved by former foreign minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at a meeting.


Spokesman for the MQM-P said that the party leadership had reached a consensus on the name of the candidate for the coveted post.


In Punjab, the PML-N and allied parties have nominated Maryam Nawaz as their candidate for the CM's post.


Maryam Nawaz’s nomination papers were filed by PML-N leaders Azma Bukhari, Samiullah Khan, Manshallah Butt, Ghazali Saleem Butt at Punjab Assembly Secretariat in Lahore.


Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Col (retd) Ayub and others also joined them later.


Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), which is in opposition in the assembly, has nominated Rana Aftab Khan for the position.

 For this purpose, the session will be held in Lahore tomorrow at eleven in the morning.


Nomination papers for the Chief Ministership can be filed today by five in the evening.
