A horrifying crime resembling the infamous 2020 Lahore-Sialkot Motorway incident has shaken Faisalabad, where armed robbers gang-raped a woman after looting her and her husband.
According to the 24NewsHD TV Channel, the tragic event took place in the jurisdiction of Sandal Bar police station.
As per the report, three dacoits intercepted a couple, Adnan and his wife Shamaila, on Motorway Bridge 62, forcing them into nearby fields at gunpoint.
They tied up the husband and subjected the wife to brutal gang rape. After the assault, the criminals fled with the couple’s mobile phones and cash.
The victim’s husband, Adnan, registered a complaint with the police, stating that they were travelling together when the armed men stopped them and assaulted his wife, Shamaila.
Taking notice of the incident, Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar directed SP Iqbal Town Abid Zafar to ensure the immediate arrest of the culprits.
A special team led by the SP, DSP Circle, and SHOs was formed, resulting in the detention of four suspects. Investigations are currently underway, with further interrogations in progress.
SP Iqbal Town Abid Zafar assured that all criminals involved in the crime would be arrested soon and that police raids were actively being conducted to bring the perpetrators to justice.
This incident brings back haunting memories of September 9, 2020, when the two accused, armed with guns, gang-raped a woman while she was waiting for help on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway in the Gujjarpura area of Lahore.
The woman, who was going to Gujranwala from Lahore, parked her car on the roadside as it ran out of fuel soon after crossing the toll plaza. When she called the National Highways and Motorway Police, she was told that the area did not fall under their jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, the armed men appeared there and forced them to leave the car. Later, they took the woman and her children to a nearby deserted place covered by trees where they gang-raped her in front of her children. The criminals later fled the scene after snatching the cash and other valuable items.
Both the criminals were arrested by the police within days, and on March 21, 2021, a special court in Lahore convicted Abid Malhi and Shafqat Ali of gang rape, kidnapping, robbery, and terrorism offences.
