The Punjab Home Department has lifted a ban on holding meetings with prisoners inside Adiala Jail premises, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Prison sources said that now all the prisoners can hold meetings normally with their family members and lawyers as per jail manual.
Earlier, the Punjab government had restricted Adiala jail prisoners from meeting visitors from October 4 to 18. The restriction was extended for another two days and later for indefinite period.
According to officials, the ban on meetings was applicable on all high-profile political prisoners including Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan but, it equally applies on other prisoners as well.
In a statement, the Adiala jail administrators had denied PTI’s allegations that Imran Khan had been mistreated. They had also disclosed the menu of meals provided to the former prime minister in jail in their defence.
