The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has rejected rumours about an unprecedented increase in petroleum products. 

Rumours about a hike in the prices of petroleum products have been aired for the past couple of days.

The authority described the speculations as baseless and false.

Orga stressed the need for avoiding airing such stories in the ongoing situation.

Inflation continues unabated while the present government blames the crisis on past rulers.

Yesterday, Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar flays ex-PM Imran Khan for what he called ruining the national economy.

Pulses prices went up by Rs120 per kg in a week and statistics show the weekly inflation rate exceeded 32 per cent.

The dollar value hits Rs262.60 in interbank while in the open market, it stands at Rs265 while the gold price has reached Rs202,500 per tola.
