In view of the current political situation in the country, contractors have stopped work on most of the development projects in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources privy to the development reveal that in the month of March 2022, the graph of the funds utilisation has dropped by 30 per cent.

They stated that after the submission of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, work on most of the development projects in Punjab has been stopped.

Senior Punjab officials have also formally confirmed that the graph of the funds utilisation has dropped significantly in March instead of going up.

Informed sources in the Planning and Development Board have said that in the month of March, the funds utilisation in Punjab always goes up.

“But due to the no-confidence motion against the prime minister, development work on different projects is yet to be accelerated,” they have added.

The officials also say that it has become difficult to fully spend the Rs650 billion worth development budget of Punjab.

In various meetings, the officials of the provincial departments have reported suspension of most of the development projects in Punjab including Lahore.

The contractors have also been informed by the departments concerned about the suspension of work on different development projects.

It is believed that delay in the completion of these development projects can have a detrimental effect on the budget for the next financial year, and, it will delay hundreds of public welfare projects.
