Congratulating the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the day symbolizes the collective effort of all facets of national power, overcoming what seemed like an insurmountable challenge and achieving a milestone in the country’s defence capabilities.

In a post uploaded on X platform on Tuesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif said “May 28 signifies more than just a mere commemoration of a day; it encapsulates the narrative of our nation’s arduous yet remarkable path towards establishing a credible minimum deterrence.”

On this historic day in 1998, he said PM Nawaz Sharif demonstrated bold leadership by rejecting nerve-wrecking pressures and inducements to make Pakistan a nuclear armed nation.

“I also pay tribute to (late) Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of Pakistan’s nuclear programme for his strategic foresight and unwavering commitment to the cause,” the prime minister maintained.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the scientists for their role in initiating and continuing Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

Pakistan celebrated 26th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer today with national zeal and fervour in remembrance of successful nuclear tests conducted on this day in 1998 that made the defence of the country invincible.

Pakistan became the seventh nuclear nation of the world and the first Muslim state on this day having the nuclear arsenal in its defence stockpile to exercise deterrence for peaceful purposes.

Prime Minister has announced public holiday today for making country's defence impregnable.

Acting President, Prime Minister and Services Chiefs have felicitated the nation on the observance of the 26th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer.

In his message on the day, Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has reiterated the resolve to continue working towards a peaceful and stable world. He said, on this day, we successfully demonstrated our nuclear capabilities and joined the ranks of nuclear powers.

The Acting President said that Youm-e-Takbeer serves as a testament to our nation's resilience, unwavering determination, and commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability.

Gilani said Pakistan, as a responsible nuclear state, firmly believes in the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared May 28 Youm-e-Takbeer as a public holiday on the day of making Pakistan's defense impregnable.

In a statement today, he said the day reminds the nation’s unity to make Pakistan’s defence invincible.

The Prime Minister said on this day, the entire nation vowed for the integrity of this country that no compromise will be made by accepting any kind of external pressure on country’s defense.

He said Youm-e-Takbeer recalls the memory that all the political and defense forces were united to make defence of the country unassailable under the crescent-carrying green flag of Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif said Youm-e-Takbeer is a day to renew the pledge to thwart the nefarious designs of external as well as internal foes of the country, hell-bent on endangering the country, through their politics of chaos and anarchy.

He said Youm-e-Takbeer is a day to pay tribute to the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Army's initiative to make country's defense impregnable.

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and scientists for their role in initiating and continuing Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

Shehbaz Sharif further expressed nation’s resolve to work tirelessly to ensure country’s economic security with the same spirit it made Pakistan’s defence invincible on 28 May 1998.

He urged to make a strong pledge that we, through unity, discipline, and faith, will foil nefarious designs of external enemies of the country as well as the elements, who intend to create unrest through incidents like May 9.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs have also felicitated the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer.

In a statement, ISPR said that Armed Forces pay tribute to the unwavering dedication and selfless sacrifices of all those who contributed to this remarkable feat, achieved against overwhelming odds.

It said the Armed Forces of Pakistan reaffirm their unwavering resolve to defend the motherland, protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensure the nation's security at all times and at any cost.
