Govt assures IHC of amending Christian Marriage Act

The federal government has informed the Islamabad High Court that it has decided to amend some sections of the Christian Marriage Act and has prepared an amended draft in this regard with the consultation of minority members, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The federal government submitted its reply to the high court in black and white. Attorney General Syed Muhammad Tayyab submitted the report.
The AG told the court that the amended draft of the Christian Marriage Act was prepared with the help of minority members. He further informed that the Human Rights Ministry after consulting with the Religious Ministry forwarded the draft to the Law Ministry.
Now the Law Ministry after deliberating on its all legal and constitutional aspects will present the amended draft to the parliament.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the case on Thursday.
