Irked over the non-implementation of the recommendations put forward by the committee in its report of June 2023 on the steps that could be taken to combat human smuggling, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday constituted a four-member committee with Anti-Money Laundering Authority head Mushtaq Sukhera as its head, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The committee, also including Anti-Money Laundering Authority DG Ihsan Sadiq, Additional Secretary Interior Nazar Muhammad Buzdar, and a representative of the DG Intelligence Bureau (IB), will conduct the audit of the steps taken by the Interior Ministry and the FIA in light of the 2023 committee report.

It will also identify those officials and personnel who are responsible for not implementing the report, and will submit its findings to the prime minister in a week.

Earlier, an FIA director had also been included in the committee, who was later expelled.
