Punjab Police has finalised a comprehensive security plan for moon night and Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure the safety of citizens across the province, including Lahore. Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, announced that security will remain on high alert during the festive period.

A police spokesperson revealed that more than 21,000 officers and personnel, including a ladies squad, will be deployed at key locations and markets across Punjab. On moon night alone, 4,000 officials will be stationed at various public places to prevent any untoward incidents. For Eid prayers, 29,000 security personnel will ensure the protection of 47,000 congregations, with 9,000 personnel specifically assigned to Lahore.

To counter any potential threats, the Special Branch and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), in collaboration with other intelligence agencies, will monitor movements of terrorists and criminals. Security has also been tightened at inter-provincial borders and police posts near rivers, considering the current law and order situation.

Dolphin Squads, PRU, and Elite Teams will conduct continuous patrols around important public places, while strict monitoring will be enforced at mosques, Imam Bargahs, major markets, and bazaars.

IGP Dr Usman Anwar has banned one-wheeling, aerial firing, and kiteflying, warning of strict legal action against violators. Additionally, those found harassing families or women during Eid celebrations will be dealt with severely.

He also directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to personally monitor the security situation. Furthermore, extra security forces will be deployed at recreational spots, public venues, and major roads to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and public safety.
