CJ-led IHC bench to hear Nawaz Sharif’s appeal against Al-Azizia sentence

The Islamabad High Court has fixed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s appeal against his conviction in the Al-Azizia reference for hearing on December 7, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
A divisional bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb will hear Nawaz’s appeal.
Besides this, the National Accountability Bureau’s appeal seeking extension in Nawaz Sharif’s sentence has also been fixed for hearing.
The NAB appeal will also be heard by the same bench of the Islamabad High Court.
IHC releases short order of Nawaz’s Avenfield acquittal decision
Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court has released the written short order of the Nawaz’s acquittal in the Avenfield reference.
According to the short order, the NAB prosecutor, during the hearing, drew the court's attention towards the Maryam Nawaz and Captain ® Safdar Awan case decision. This court has given its observation in the acquittal verdict of Maryam and Captain ® Safdar case.
The order said that the NAB did not have any documentary evidence to prove his case against Nawaz Sharif. So the court accepts Nawaz’s appeal against his conviction and orders for his acquittal in the Avenfield reference.
The Islamabad High Court will release a detailed judgement explaining reasons for the acquittal later.
The IHC two-judge bench has released a two-page order of the court.
