Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Amir Farooq Wednesday issued notices to the police and complainant Shaukat Mukadam on the appeal plea of gardener Jan Muhammad in the Noor Mukadam murder case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Jan Muhammad (House staff gardener), who was convicted in Noor Mukadam case had filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the 10-year sentence. Jan Muhammad sought annulment of the trial court’s sentence.

He submitted the plea through his new lawyer Kamran Murtaza, senior advocate of the Supreme Court.

The case hearing has been adjourned for an indefinite period.

A sessions court in Islamabad had sentenced murderer Zahir Jaffer’s staff, Iftikhar and Jan Muhammad, each to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs100,000 for abetting the crime.

On Feb 24, primary accused Zahir Jaffer was awarded a death penalty for the murder of Noor Mukadam, however, Additional Sessions Judge Atta Rabbani acquitted his parents, Zakir Jaffer and Ismat Adamjee, as well as other suspects in the case including Therapy Works employees, from the charge of abetment.
