Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared that time has come to completely eliminate the menace of ‘Fitna Al-Khawarij’, and Centre, provinces and defence institutions should collectively formulate a coordinated plan in this regard, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the National Action Plan’s (NAP) Apex Committee meeting at PM House in Islamabad on Friday, Shehbaz Sharif said strong retaliatory actions were being taken against cross-border aggression, adding the enemies were being supported by their facilitators within the country and are waiting for an opportunity to strike.
The PM pointed out the presence of a few intruders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), stressing that Pakistan's security is a top priority.
He said the provinces in collaboration with the federal government and security institutions should fram a coherent action plan against terrorism, as problems will be solved only by prioritising national interest over personal interest.
The Prime Minister also drew attention of the participants towards the digital propaganda against Pakistan, noting that so-called friendly nations were engaging in campaigns to harm the country's interests.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that false narratives are being supported to distort facts, including fake news against Rangers personnel, which, if not countered, could undermine significant national efforts.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed firm commitment to eradicate the scourge of terrorism to put the country on the path of economic development, saying time has come to wipe out Fitnah Al-Khawarij completely.
The prime minister noted that improving law and order situation in the entire country is important to achieve the agenda of progress and development. “We are also cognizant of the foreign hands who are hatching conspiracies against Pakistan inside Balochistan,” he added.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over efforts towards increasing the capacity of counter-terrorism department in the provinces, saying Punjab is taking a lead in this regard.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need for equipping police with modern equipment and ensuring merit-based induction in the force.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has assumed its responsibilities as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, saying the country will fully play its role in the international diplomacy.
He also congratulated the Foreign Minister and his team for their efforts regarding the election of Pakistan as a non-permanent member of the UNSC with an overwhelming majority.
All four service chiefs including Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, chief ministers, and federal ministers, participated in the meeting.
CM Gandapur says terrorism will not be tolerated
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minist Ali Amin Gandapur has said that terrorists are coming to Pakistan from across the border and they will have to be stopped.
Ali Amin Gandapur said that talks are also underway with Afghanistan to end terrorism.
Terrorism will not be tolerated in the country under any circumstances, Ali Amin Gandapur said.
He said we will go to the extreme to establish peace in the country.
Chief Minister KP said the situation in Kurram Parachinar will improve soon and roads will be opened.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur gave Rs50,000 to a resident of Khairpur who was protesting at outside of Prime Minister’s House.
