PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday vowed to get Yousuf Raza Gillani elected Senate chairman after defeating PTI candidate Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in Senate elections.
Addressing a press conference along with Yousuf Raza Gillani at Bilawal House, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded resignation from Imran Khan after the stunning defeat. He said that democracy is the best revenge. He thanked Pakistan Democratic Movement Chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif for extending their support in the Senate polls.
The PPP chairman said that Yousuf Raza Gillani was elected National Assembly speaker when Benazir Bhutto was the prime minister. He said that Gillani was also elected prime minister when Asif Ali Zardari was president of the country. Now Gillani would be elected Senate chairman as well, he vowed.
Bilawal Bhutto said that PDM challenged the PTI government not only in by-elections but also in Senate polls and won it. He said that Prime Minster Imran should accept his defeat and leave the office honourably. Every institute should work within its limits, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Yousuf Raza Gillani said that his victory a triumph of democracy. He said that it was a victory of PDM and parliamentarians. He said that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif called him and greeted him on winning the Senate election.
He said that PPP delegation would go to PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and PDM chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Talking about no-confidence move against prime minister, Gillani said the PDM leadership will decide the matter with consensus.
