Punjab cabinet approves paperless system in departments

The Punjab Cabinet has agreed to the implementation of a paperless system in the departments by closing down the traditional file system, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The 15th meeting of the provincial cabinet chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi here on Friday also approved giving laptops to talented students of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, advisors, the Punjab chief secretary, Punjab inspector general police, and other officials.
In the meeting, the Punjab cabinet approved the closure of the file system in departments and the implementation of the paperless system, effective until May 15. As per the TV report, the Punjab cabinet took this daring step that would not only improve the e-governance system but also save billions of rupees.
CM Mohsin Naqvi also directed the digitization of ACRs.
The cabinet congratulated the chairman Planning and Development Board, the secretary implementation, and the chairman Punjab Information Technology Board for introducing the paperless system in departments.
The cabinet also decided to provide laptops to meritorious students in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, using those available to the Punjab government.
The cabinet approved financial assistance of Rs1.5 million per person for the families of the youths of Ichra Lahore who died when their jeep fell into the Neelum River.
The Punjab Police (ministerial posts) Rules 2017 were also approved for amendment.
The cabinet gave its conditional approval to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Special Education and the Non-Government Organisation (NGO) "Tare Zameen Par" Trust.
The Cabinet Standing Committee on Legal Affairs would review the MoU and take the final decision.
In the meeting, the decisions of the 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th meetings of the provincial cabinet were ratified. The decisions of the second and third meetings of the Cabinet Standing Committee for Finance and Development were also ratified.
Finally, the decisions of the first and second meetings of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Legal Affairs and Privatization were ratified, as were the decisions of the second, third, and fourth meetings of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Law and Order.
