Pakistan Railways subsidiary, Pakistan Railways Advisory and Consultancy Services (PRACS), terminated the services of 80 employees without prior notice, 24NewsHD reported on Monday.

Deputy director commercial, booking office supervisor, booking clerks, naib qasid, drivers, assistant reservation clerks, junior clerks and computer technicians are among those whose services have been terminated. A significant number of those laid off are booking clerks, with a large portion being women.

According to sources, most of the terminated employees had been working with PRACS for several years. The sudden decision to remove them from service has caused widespread disappointment and concern among the remaining staff.

Affected employees belong to major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi. They claim they were dismissed without any prior notice or explanation. “We were removed from our jobs without any official notification. This has left us unemployed and uncertain about our future,” said one of the affected workers.

This mass termination has raised serious questions about job security within public sector subsidiaries and has sparked criticism from employee unions and rights activists.
