The Ministry of Railways has decided to shut down three of its subsidiary companies, resulting in the termination of 75 employees, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
According to details, the ministry has issued official notifications for the closure of PRACS (Pakistan Railway Advisory & Consultancy Services), RAILCOP (Railway Constructions Pakistan Limited), and PRFTC (Pakistan Railway Freight Transportation Company).
Sources revealed that all three companies had allegedly become safe havens for retired officials, enjoying perks and privileges at the expense of public funds.
In the first phase of the decision, 75 employees from PRACS have been laid off. More layoffs are expected in the coming phases as the ministry implements the complete shutdown plan.
The decision is part of the ministry’s broader reforms to streamline operations and cut unnecessary expenditures.
