Soulfulness ceremony marks beginning of Islamic year with changing of Kiswa

The beginning of the new Islamic year was marked by a deeply spiritual and moving ceremony as the Kiswa (the sacred covering of the Khana Kaaba) was replaced in Saudi Arabia on Muharram 1, 1446 Hijri.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, this annual event filled with religious significance is eagerly awaited by Muslims around the world.
The preparation of the Kiswa is a meticulous and revered process, involving the use of 670 kilograms of pure silk. Additionally, 120 kilograms of gold and 100 kilograms of silver threads were used to intricately embroider the verses from the Holy Quran onto the Kiswa.
The ceremony, held in the holy city of Mecca, serves as a reminder of the spiritual renewal and devotion that the new Islamic year brings.
It is a time for Muslims to reflect on their faith, seek forgiveness, and renew their commitment to the teachings of Islam.

The task of replacing the Kiswa involves 159 skilled technicians and craftsmen. Over 200 individuals work at the King Abdul Aziz Kiswa Complex to prepare the Kaaba's covering, participating in various stages of its production.
The world's largest sewing machine which is 16 meters long and operated by a computer system is used for various tasks related to the Kiswa.
The complex is equipped with state-of-the-art Jacquard machines for fabric preparation. Other machines produce black silk for embroidering Quranic verses, prayers, and other texts. Plain silk is also prepared, upon which verses are printed.
Each material used in the preparation of the Kiswa undergoes a thorough inspection, with a dedicated laboratory ensuring quality control at every stage of production.
