An accountability court (AC) in Islamabad on Thursday reserved its verdict on the petitions, seeking the suspension of permanent arrest warrants issued for the sons of former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz in three corruption references, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

AC Judge Nasir Javed Rana heard the petitions.

The petitioners’ lawyers Qazi Misbahul Hassan and Rana Irfan Advocate appeared in the court, while Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar and Prosecutor Sohail Arif represented the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Speaking during the hearing, Qazi Misbah said that a high court had already acquitted all other suspects in these cases. “Both Hassan and Hussain will come to Pakistan and appear in the court on March 12,” he added.

The NAB prosecutor informed the court that the arrest warrants for both petitioners had already been suspended. “They can now appear in the court and surrender,” Sohail Arif said, adding, “Therefore, this is my request to the court to give them an opportunity to appear in the court.”

Nawaz Sharif’s sons had filed the pleas in the Avenfield, Flagship and Al-Azizia cases.

An AC had declared both brothers ‘proclaimed offenders’ seven years ago.
