LHC orders to de-seal 10 theatres in Lahore

Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to de-seal ten theatres of the Lahore division, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The court heard a petition against the closure of commercial theatres in the city by the provincial government today.

At the request of the theatre owners, the court directed the concerned authorities to take a decision within 7 days.

The LHC directed the authorities to keep theatres open until the decision was made by the concerned authorities.

Chief Secretary Commissioner Lahore Division and others were present during the hearing of the petition while Justice Raheel Kamran heard the petition of theater owners.

In a previous hearing, the lawyer said Commissioner Lahore is closing theatres without any legal justification. He said theatres are being closed for obscenity. He maintained that no obscenity was taking place in the theatre, but clean entertainment was being provided to the citizens.

Lahore High Court now remarks if there are any complaints against the applicants then legal action will be taken whereas no action should be taken illegally.
