Motorway police foil attempt to smuggle Rs 20m worth of cigarettes near Uch Sharif

The Motorway Police successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle cigarettes valued at Rs 20 million on the Motorway M-5 near Uch Sharif, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
According to details, the Motorway Police intercepted three vehicles loaded with crates of what appeared to be fruits. However, upon conducting a thorough inspection, the officials discovered a concealed stash of cigarettes, paan, and chalia inside the supposedly fruit-laden boxes.
The accused, along with their vehicles and the illicit goods, were apprehended and handed over to the Customs Police for action.
The confiscated contraband items are valued at approximately Rs 20 million.
A spokesperson for the Motorway Police revealed that the smuggled goods were en route from Quetta to Multan.
Inspector General of Motorway Police, Sultan Ali Khawaja, emphasized the paramount importance of upholding the rule of law on the motorway.
