Shikarpur bakes at record 48 degrees Celsius as heatwave grips Sindh

Extreme heat in Sindh broke all previous records for April as the day temperature shot up to 48 degrees Celsius in the suburbs of Shikarpur on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Similar was the situation in other cities of the province as well where extremely hot weather made the lives of the people miserable.
Mercury touches 47 degrees Celsius in Thari Mirwah
Thari Mirwah emerged as the second hottest place in Sindh as the daytime temperature in the city soared to 47 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperature in Larkana, Sukkur reaches 46 degrees Celsius
As Shikarpur baked at 48 degrees Celsius, the temperature was recorded at 46 degrees Celsius in Larkana, Mohenjo Daro and Sukkur.
In Sukkur, the humidity level in the air was recorded at 35 per cent.
Breeze was blowing at the speed of three kilometers per hour.
The weather department forecast the maximum temperature to go up to 47 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
Kashmore sizzles at 44 degrees Celsius
Heatwave also persisted in Kashmore where the day temperature shot up to 44 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
At the same time, power outages added to the miseries of residents of the city.
Temperature in Daharki recorded at 40 degrees Celsius
In Daharki, a city in upper Sindh, the daytime temperature was recorded at 40 degrees Celsius.
PDMA alert:
The Met Office and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Balochistan had on Sunday issued a heatwave alert.
According to which southern districts of Sindh, including Karachi, and Balochistan would remain in the grip of extreme heat from April 13 to April 18 as daytime temperatures would be six to eight degrees above normal.
During this time, the PDMA said the weather would remain extremely hot even at nighttime.
PDMA advised citizens not to go out in the sun and use more water.
