The Central Selection Board (CSB) has recommended the promotion of over 500 civil and police officers to Grade 20 and 21 following its four-day meeting, held from March 11 to 14 under the Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission. The final approval of these recommendations rests with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, after which the Establishment Division will issue official notifications for promotion, posting, and transfer.

Key Promotions Across Various Services

Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS)

The board has recommended 11 PAS officers for promotion from Grade 20 to 21, including:

Muhammad Aamir Jan, Muhammad Nawaz Naseem, Captain (retd) Zafar Iqbal, Azmat Mahmood Khan, Mrs. Saulat Saqib, Noreen Bashir, Lieutenant (retd) Islam Zeb, Dr. Sajid Mahmood Chohan, Humayun Khan, Waqas Alam and Muhammad Hanif Channa.

Additionally, 40 PAS officers have been recommended for promotion from Grade 19 to 20, including Sameer Ahmed Syed, Hamza Shafqat, Saima Ahad, Muhammad Umar Masood, Khawar Kamal, Salman Ghani, Muhammad Ayaz, Amara Khan, Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti, Dr. Asif Tufail, Amara Amir Khattak, Shahzad Fazal Abbasi, Shahzeb Khan, Muhammad Zaman, Javed Ali Jagrani, Danish Afzal, Talha Hussain Faisal, Nasir Ahmed Memon, Maryam Kayani, Sara Rashid, Imran Hamid, Kulsoom Saqib, Hamida Ikram, Fazal Haq, Talat Mahmood Gondal, Zubair Ahmed Channa, Flight Lieutenant (retd) Asim Ayub, Zaheer Abbas, Muhammad Abdullah, Amir Khattak, Kiran Khurshid, Muhammad Saleem Afzal, Sahibzadi Wasima Omar, Benish Fatima Sahi, Shamir Khan Bhutto, Dr. Syed Bilal Haider, Captain (retd) Muhammad Anwarul Haq, Sajid Mohsin Panhwar, Naila Baqir and Lieutenant (retd) M Shoaib Khan Jadoon.

Police Service of Pakistan (PSP)

The CSB approved the promotion of 17 police officers to Grade 21, including:

Waqar Ahmed Chohan, Khurram Shakoor, Saad Akhtar, Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh, Shahzad Sultan, Azad Khan, Flight Lieutenant (retd) and Seem Ahmed Khan, Zulfiqar Larq, Sharjeel Karim Kharal, Iqbal Dara Dayo, Muhammad Tahir, Abbas Ahsan, Syed Khurram Ali, Humayun Bashir Tarar, Muhammad Jafar, Dr. Tariq Chohan and Shakeel Ahmed Durrani.

Furthermore, 32 police officers have been recommended for promotion to DIG (Grade 20), including are Fawaduddin Riaz Qureshi, Muhammad Ali Nikokara, Imran Shaukat, Faisal Bashir Memon, Junaid Ahmed, Hassan Asad Alvi, Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya, Ismatullah, Dr. Farrukh Ali, Qasim Ali, Agha Tahir Alauddin, Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed, Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera, Omar Riaz, Muhammad Haroon Joya, Asad Sarfraz Khan, Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia, Najib-ul-Ran Bagvi, Omar Farooq Salamat, Sahibzada Bilal Umar, Aamir Abdullah Niazi, Irfanullah Khan, Mustafa Hameed Malik, Wazir Khan Nasir, Barkat Hussain Khosa, Imran Shahid, Muhammad Quraish Khan, Sajjad Khan, Gul Wali Khan, Shaukat Ali Khatian, Shada Ibn Masih and Syed Muhammad Abbas Rizvi..

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Central Selection Board has approved the promotion of 13 officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Grade 21 including:

Pakistani Ambassador to Portugal Dr. Khalid Ijaz, Pakistani High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Maroof, Ambassador-designate to South Korea Syed Moazzam Shah, Pakistani Ambassador to Nepal Syed Abrar Hashmi, Pakistani High Commissioner to Brunei Janbaz Khan, Tahir Andrabi, Muhammad Ayub, Imran Haider, Margoob Saleem Butt, Syed Ali Asad Gilani posted in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Islamabad.:

Additionally, 18 officers from the Foreign Ministry have been recommended for promotion to Grade 20.

Pakistan Customs Service

The board recommended 19 officers from the Pakistan Customs Service for promotion to Grade 20, including Azoud-ul-Mahdi, Dr. Rizwan Basharat, Farrukh Sharif, Javed Sarwar Sheikh, Arshad Hayat, Adeem Khan, Farah Farooq, Umar Shafiq and Muhammad Raza.

Education Sector

The CSB also approved promotions for 10 professors and principals from Grade 19 to 20, including:

Principal Ghulam Hussain Sahu has been recommended for promotion as Deputy Director General, Federal Directorate of Education, Dr. Saeed Ahmed and Muhammad Saeed as Professors, Model Colleges, Federal Directorate of Education, Shazia Shamim Rizvi as Professors, Model Colleges, Federal Directorate of Education, Lubna Mahmood, Mehreen Ashraf, Umm-e-Rabab, Nusrat Bashir as Senior Headmistresses, FDE, Saira Malik and Asia Khan as Principals, Islamabad Model Schools, FDE and Director, Directorate of Workers Education, Rai Muhammad Akbar, has been recommended for promotion as DG in Grade 20.

Information Group

According to sources, the four officers of the Information Group who have been recommended for promotion from grade 20 to 21 including DG PBC Saeed Sheikh, Joint Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ashfaq Khalil, Imrana Wazir and Samina Farzeen posted in the Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications.

Five officers of the Information Group have been recommended for promotion from grade 19 to 20, including DG Media Finance Division Hamid Raza Wattoo, Director ABC Muhammad Saleem, ED Government TV Daniyal Gilani, Director External Publicity Wing Shazia Siraj and Deputy Registrar Ambrain Gul Shahid.

Other Groups

•  12 officers of the Secretariat Group promoted to Grade 21, and 35 officers to Grade 20.

•  3 officers from the Postal Service promoted to Grade 21, and 6 officers to Grade 20.

The Central Selection Board’s recommendations reflect a major restructuring of top civil and police bureaucracy, with final approvals expected from the Prime Minister’s Office soon.

It may be recalled that the Central Selection Board meeting held after a gap of one year and seven months was chaired by the Chairman Federal Public Service Commission, Lieutenant General (retd) Akhtar Nawaz Satti, while Senator Sadia Abbasi, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, MNA Javed Hanif Khan, Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal from Punjab, retired Grade 22 bureaucrat Rabia Javeria Agha from Sindh, Secretary Maritime Affairs Division Zafar Ali Shah from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, retired Grade 22 officer Ghiyasuddin from Balochistan and retired Secretariat Group Grade 22 officer Pervez Junejo, Secretary Establishment Division Inamullah Khan Dharejo, Secretary Cabinet Division and all four provincial chief secretaries were nominated as board members.

In addition, for the promotion cases of police officers, the IG Police of the provinces, the Federal Secretary Home were nominated as board members, while the secretaries of the ministry whose promotion case was under consideration also attended the meeting.

Furthermore, the DG Intelligence Bureau and DG ISI Participated in the promotion cases of officers of their respective institutions.
