Punjab govt to establish nine ‘Model Farms’

Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has decided to set up nine model agricultural centers across the province, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Presiding over a meeting, for the evaluation of matters related to the establishment of model agricultural farms across the province, held here on Tuesday, Mohsin Naqvi called for a final plan from the concerned quarters in this regard.
In a directive issued after the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for an integrated project to provide farmers with all facilities under one roof.
According to sources, this decision aimed to transform the agricultural landscape, providing farmers with state-of-the-art facilities and fostering modern farming practices.
At the divisional level, model agricultural centers will ensure that cultivators have access to all necessary amenities under one roof. This includes the provision of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural machinery, contributing to a streamlined and efficient farming process.
Furthermore, the model centers will address the marketing and storage needs of fruits, vegetables, and other produce, offering a solution to the challenges faced by farmers.
The phased program will extend beyond divisions to districts, ensuring a comprehensive network of model agricultural centers throughout Punjab.
Provincial Minister for Industries and Agriculture SM Tanvir, Chairman Planning and Development Board, Secretary Agriculture, and agricultural experts attended the meeting.
The CM also received a briefing on the model agricultural center situated in Okara's rural villages.
