New milk price announced by dairy farmers triggers protests in Lahore

Dairy Farmers Association Lahore rejecting official price list has announced to increase milk price by Rs10 per liter from May 1, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
After the increase in milk price, wholesale price of buffalo milk will increase by Rs10 to Rs220 per litre.
Further cow milk will be sold at Rs170 per liter after an increase of Rs7.50 per liter and cow while buffalo mix milk will increase by Rs10 and become Rs195 per liter and retail price of milk will increase by another Rs10.
According to the price list issued by the Deputy Commissioner, the price of milk is Rs170 and there is a big difference of up to Rs50 per liter between the Deputy Commissioner and the market price.
In this regard, Dairy Farmer Association President Rafiq Gujjar said price increase is for one year.
On the other hand, milk sellers union announced protest, calling the increase unjustified.
They are of the view that parallel system in the presence of official price list a question mark on the district administration.
Motorcycle Milk Sellers Union President Irshad Gujjar demanded that the Chief Minister take notice of unjustified increase in milk price.
If the decision to increase was not withdrawn, we will stop the supply of milk, Irshad Gujjar threatened.
The milk sellers association also staged a protest demonstration at Gawala Colony Chandrai Road terming the increase in milk price is their economic murder.
They said the district administration has failed to implement the official rate list and nobody is taking the matter seriously.
They said the milk sellers reject the decision of increasing prices of milk threatening they will suspend the supply of milk in the city.
