A petition was submitted to the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday challenging the summary of Punjab Assembly dissolution and possible dissolution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The petition was filed by a citizen, Shoukat Arshad, in the IHC.
The petitioner stated that no public referendum was held before the dissolution of Punjab Assembly nor any reason was given for the dissolution.
The petitioner prayed to the court to declare the summary of Punjab Assembly dissolution null and void.
He said that the constitutional term of the assemblies has been fixed for five years. And the dissolution of Punjab and KP assemblies is a joke to the public mandate.
He further prayed that dissolution of assemblies for the political objective would incur a loss on national exchequer.
The petition made parliamentary affairs secretary, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, establishment division secretary, interprovincial coordination secretary, Punjab and KP chief secretaries respondents in the case.
