CM office receives commissioner’s resignation
The resignation given by the Rawalpindi commissioner has been received at the chief minister’s office in Lahore.
Commissioner presented no proof: Minister
Rebutting the claims made by Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha, Punjab government spokesman and Information Minister Amir Mir has called the allegations made by the government officer 25 days prior to his retirement a ‘political stunt’.
“There may be a conspiracy behind his today’s presser,” Mir has said, adding, “His press talk was unbecoming of a commissioner. It appeared to be more that of a lunatic than a senior most government official.”
Amir Mir “rejected” the claims of manipulation of election results made by Liaquat Ali Chattha. He said Chattha had “not shown any proof” of the alleged tampering of poll results.
Noting that the commissioner was retiring on March 13, Mir said, “I imagine he’s trying to kickstart his political career after he retires.”
