The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has decided not to enter into an alliance with the PTI before launching an anti-government movement, saying there is no unity in the party and that its leaders do not speak the same language, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Sources told the 24News TV channel that the decision was taken at the party’s general council meeting.
It was agreed, they informed, that there would not be a formal alliance with the PTI and the two parties would either agree or disagree with each other on issues.
However, sources disclosed, that the participants of the meeting said that the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman would have the final word on the matter.
It is worth-mentioning here that both parties had held meetings to form an anti-government alliance.
It was believed that the PTI was not able to give a tough time to the coalition government on its own and it was only by uniting with the JUI-F that it could create problems for the present setup.
However later, the hopes for the formation of an alliance began to die down as the PTI leaders began dilly-dallying on the matter. And the statements issued by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur against Maulana Fazl further diminished the prospects for an alliance.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl leader Hafiz Hamdullah had on Sunday ruled out any alliance with the PTI, saying the PTI leadership had failed to address the grievances of the JUI despite the passage of three months.
Hamdullah further said more than three months had passed, but the PTI did not address the JUI-F concerns.
“A majority of PTI members are in jail. So, in these circumstances, we cannot stand with them. The PTI leadership is indecisive on initiating talks with the JUI for the formation of an alliance,” he said, adding, “As three months have passed, they did not address our concerns. We can go issue-to-issue with the PTI in the parliament, if it is necessary.”
