Mother of Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir passed away on Monday, it was announced early Tuesday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a statement issued by the ISPR on Tuesday, the mother of COAS General Syed Asim Munir passed away on the 23rd of Ramazan (March 24).
The ISPR statement also offered prayers for her highest ranks in heaven.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed their heartfelt sorrow and grief over the sad demise of mother of COAS General Asim Munir.
They prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude and courage.
“We share the grief of General Syed Asim Munir over his mother’s passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family during this difficult time,” the president said.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider also expressed condolence on the sudden death of mother of COAS General Asim Munir.
Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani also prayed for the departed soul and extended his sympathies with the army chief.
He expressed his sorrow and grief on learning of the death of Gen Asim Munir's mother, and prayed for courage for the bereaved family to bear with the loss.
National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq also joined in the condolences and prayed for the departed soul.
He said parents are a blessing of nature and their passing is an irreparable and tragic loss.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz alos expressed their heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise of mother of General Asim Munir.
In their separate messages, all the dignitaries condoled the sudden death of mother of COAS General Asim Munir. The prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and courage to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude and courage.
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of mother of COAS General Asim Munir. He prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori also extended condolences, stating, “In this hour of grief, we stand with General Syed Asim Munir and his family.” He prayed for strength and peace for the family.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the death and offered condolences to the bereaved family, saying the loss of a parent is profoundly painful.
