Prisoner escapes from jail van in Pindi

In a major security lapse, one undertrial prisoner, who was being brought to Adiala Jail from Rawalpindi District Court escaped from the prisoners’ van by cutting its roof, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to sources, the accused Muhammad Zubair is an undertrial prisoner involved in a case of drug trafficking.
Waris Khan police station recovered more than one kg of drugs from his possession and registered a case against him.
The accused broke the mesh of the roof and went on the roof of the prisoner's van, jumped from the moving vehicle when it reached Adiala Road and escaped.
A case has been registered against the accused for his escape from the van while in police custody.
A search operation for the absconding prisoner is underway.
