Arabian horses are among the oldest and purest breeds, and are recognised for their speed, endurance, and beauty. The Bedouins treated their horses as family members, sometimes even allowing them to sleep inside their tents. Their ability to survive in harsh desert conditions and their unwavering loyalty made them a crucial part of Arab culture and history.
The Arabs had a tradition.
When their horses became too many and it was no longer possible to distinguish their lineage, they would gather all the horses in one place. Then, they would stop feeding them and subject them to severe beating. After this harsh treatment, they would bring food and water for the horses. At that point, the horses would automatically divide into two entities.
Some horses would immediately run toward the food, indifferent to who was feeding them or who had beaten them.
But then there were the purebred horses—those who refused to eat from the same hands that had humiliated them and wounded their dignity.
Alas! We are human beings but still unable to distinguish it. We are facing severe circumstances but couldn’t find purebred among us. As all of us know that Balochistan has been facing uncertain law and order situation. Our neighbouring country is taking advantage of our policies and interfering unofficially, pouring in billions. There is continuous infiltration from Afghanistan. Our people are being killed. The business of corpses is running day and night. The public is terrified. The outside world has complete check and balance on us. Foreign observers are watching every moment. Law and orders are not observed in the country. We, the writers are just writing on issues, politicians are speaking and debating on problems , as our duty is merely to write and speak on issues . Don’t think that our government, our esteemed institutions, and our elected representatives are unaware of this delicate situation! It is impossible for the government, institutions, and elected representatives to sit idle in such circumstances. In this situation government is trying its best to facilitate common people but it seems common people don’t want to be facilitated. Its really alarming situation.
The government has taken an initiative to help “common mass” and definitely this step doesn’t go in the favour of elite class.
You can judge by yourself.
The salaries of federal ministers are being increased by 188 percent. Previously, a federal minister received around two hundred thousand rupees! Now, they will receive over five hundred thousand. Since these salaries will be paid by cutting from the public’s pocket, they should be considered a charitable donation from the people. At present, no one in the country is as impoverished and destitute as the federal ministers. Some ill-wishers argue that these ministers are billionaires, that they spent millions on elections to reach the assembly, and that they include landlords and industrialists already burdened with privileges. Such statements are made only by those who do not care about facts and figures The truth is that they don’t show off but they are spending a miserable life. Their children study in charity schools. Their meals come from public soup kitchens, shrines. They even cant cook at home . These ministers are already making immense sacrifices for the nation. They do not even take government vehicles. They pay for fuel out of their own pockets. They all live in their personal homes. This salary increase will bring a little relief to their hard-working, poverty-stricken lives. Their children will finally be able to eat two proper meals a day. And anyway, be fair—what is the value of five hundred thousand rupees? A labourer or a street vendor earns more than this in a single day. The nation should salute the National Assembly for this great initiative! This is a tremendous favour upon the country! A favor so great that future generations will remember it with pride. History will record this decision in golden letters.
This leads us back to 19th century. During those times, people used to race on donkeys. there was a unique approach taken by one of the jockeys. He hung a piece of carrot at the end of a stick and held it in front of the donkey. This encouraged the donkey to run faster than others. Meanwhile, other jockeys simply use the stick approach. They were beating their donkeys left and right in order for them to gain speed. Therefore, the jockey that used both carrot as well as stick was able to outperform others.
In our scenario the carrot-and-stick approach is applied on us by our leaders. People are being hit by a stick and when they try to speak they are shown carrot with stick. They are compelled to seal their lips. They are asked to zip their mouth.
Pakistan is currently at a critical juncture. The cancer of terrorism is festering. Balochistan has become a centre of anti-state activities. This is the visionary brilliance and extreme foresight of our leaders that they are taking work and showing stick and carrot at the same time so no one can speak out!
It’s time to prove:
“The carrot-and-stick approach can make a donkey move, but it takes wisdom and respect to make a man follow.” As someone has said to If you treat people like donkeys, don’t be surprised when they act like donkeys.
