Lahore with AQI 273 emerges as second most polluted city despite rain

Overnight light to heavy rain failed to provide any major relief to the residents of Lahore from smog as with the air quality index (AQI) recorded at 273, the provincial capital was ranked as the second most polluted city in the world on Thursday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The AQI over Syed Maratab Ali Road was recorded at 278; similarly, it was 249 over Phase-8 in DHA, 193 over Johar Town, and 340 in the surrounding areas.
Doctors advised people to prefer to stay at homes, and wear facemasks if travelling was really necessary.
It was partly cloudy in the city early in the morning, while cool breeze made the weather chilly.
Weathermen, on the other hand, forecast light to moderate rain in the city during the next 24 hours.
They predicted changes in the city’s weather following the rain.
They said that the temperature would remain 20 degrees Celsius on the maximum side while 12 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.
