It rained and drizzled in different parts of the country, including Punjab, early Saturday morning which besides turning the weather chillier also improved air quality in the plains, and hence putting an end to a period of drought, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Drizzle was reported from different parts of Lahore, including Township, Johar Town and Canal Road.   

Rain and drizzle were also reported from Kharian, Multan, Sahiwal and other cities of Punjab.  

Rain inundates low-lying areas in Shikarpur

Intermittent thundershowers in and around Shikarpur not only turned the weather cold but also resulted in the flooding of low-lying areas and the tripping of feeders, suspending the power supply to several localities. 

There were reports of rain from other towns and cities of Sindh as well.  

On Friday, 24News TV channel reported that different parts in the country’s north and west had received rain after a weather system entered these areas from Afghanistan. 

Rain, accompanied by hailstorms, lashed different cities of Balochistan, including Quetta, Chaman, Kalat, Qila Abdullah and Chaghai.

On the other hand, Lahore, with the AQI reaching 298, was ranked as the second most polluted city in the world on Saturday followed by the Indian capital New Delhi where the AQI was recorded at 461.

The AQI over Raiwind near Lahore stood at 676. It was 368 over Johar Town locality of the city, 336 over the CERP Office, 291 over Ghazi Road Interchange and 287 over MM Alam Road.  

The Met Office predicted that the maximum temperature of the city would go up to 22 degrees Celsius later in the day while it would remain 13 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.

The level of humidity in the air was recorded at 74 per cent, while breeze was blowing at the speed of six kilometers per hour. 

Pollution levels dropped in Multan as with the AQI standing at 400, the city was at the fourth position on the list of the country’s most polluted cities.   

The level of humidity in the air was recorded at 85 per cent, while the maximum temperature was expected to go up to 25 degrees Celsius.
