The meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC), summoned by Prime Minister Imran Khan, began at the PM House, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairman joint chiefs of staff, army chief and other military leaders were in attendance along with key ministers.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry announced the news of the meeting through a tweet he uploaded on Thursday.
وزیر اعظم نے نیشنل سیکیورٹی کمیٹی کا اجلاس طلب کر لیا، اجلاس آج بعد دوپہر وزیر اعظم ہاؤس میں ہو گا

The NSC is the highest forum for coordination on security issues.
The development came a day after the premier decided to present a 'secret letter', that he brandished at the PTI's March 27 rally, in the hope that his party dissidents, as well as disgruntled PTI allies, would change their minds after becoming aware of its content and reject the opposition's motion of no-confidence against him.
The premier shared the letter with the cabinet members in a hurriedly called meeting, which was not attended by its two major allies — MQM-P and BAP — despite being invited, on Wednesday. It has been learnt that the letter was shown to the cabinet members on a TV screen.
