Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Friday promised the tribal elders for restoration of jirga system and restoration of visa facility at Angoor Adda, reported 24News HD TV channel.

During his two-day visit to South Waziristan, the interior minister met with the tribal elders of the area.

He was received by Inspector General of Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa South Major General Omar Bashir at the IGFC headquarters at Wana. He laid a floral wreath at the martyrs' monument and offered fateha for their souls.

Major General Omar Bashir also briefed the Minister about the security situation in Waziristan.

The minister addressed the grand jirga of Ahmed Zai Wazeer, Sulaiman Khel and Dutai tribes in Wanna. The minister said he would get the tribal leadership to meet with Prime Minister Imran Khan to persuade him to divide South Waziristan into two districts.

The tribesmen told the minister that the PM had promised them to divide South Waziristan into two districts. They said all the government offices were situated in Tank and the citizens faced difficulties with their usual works.

They demanded that the deputy commissioner be given police powers the same as the Malakand division. They also demanded that Angoor Adda should be linked with CPEC through Gomalzad Road.

They said there was a lack of facilities of educational institutions in Angoor Adda. Also, they demanded a custom terminal and the market should be set up at Angoor Adda border. They said small and big dams should be constructed in Wanna as the water level was going down there with every passing day.

The interior minister said that he had come to Wanna for the first time and would continue visiting the area after every three months. He said he would peruse the PM to meet with the tribal elders after the budget session. He said the tribes of the area were loyal to Pakistan. He said Pakistan was much better than other Muslim counties that were facing many problems.

He said he would restore the visa facility at the Angoor Adda Pak-Afghan border. He said the government would develop educational facilities in the area as well.
