What can be termed a big step, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday delegated his powers to create vacancies and make appointments to his ministers, advisers and secretaries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources told 24News that the federal cabinet had approved recommendations in this regard after the prime minister gave his nod.
Earlier, Imran Khan had decided not to give these powers to anyone when he was the prime minister, they said, and added that now when the government planned to induct experts and professionals in various divisions and ministries, the prime minister no more had the power to create vacancies for such fresh inductions.
Now, sources elaborated, the Finance Ministry would create vacancies after consultations with the Establishment Division.
They said that now the consultants would be appointed after the approval of concerned ministers or advisers.
Similarly, they went on to say, that the appointments of research associates and young professionals would now be made following approval by the concerned secretary, while the PM’s approval would have to be sought for the appointments of technical advisors.
